It is a fact that puppies need to have social skills. They do not come to us already trained, social, and well behaved.

A time known as the "Critical Period" is a part of every pups life It's hard to imagine a cute little furry puppy can grow to be an aggressive, rude bully. Without the proper social skills it can happen and does more often than you'd think. To avoid that, every owner needs to work on helping their puppy learn these Important skills in a positive and safe environment.

Diann is a certified dog trainer with a behavior background in dog development skills, and is there to help every step of the way. Some off lead training is done as puppies learn training and learning is fun!! interactions with owners and other people in class is an important part of puppy skills and also should be done as early as possible. This is the time in their life they need to understand not to be fearful, learn to read and understand other dog's body language, how to initiate play, when another dog say's to them "NO" Skills they will use their entire lives. They are only puppies once, and time goes to fast. Puppy Social Class For beginners is focused on helping the pups as much as their owners.

Owners are taught how to calm your puppy if he get's to rowdy, learn how to read and understand if they are fearful, and most of all it is so much fun to watch a group of playful happy puppies having the best time. Bring the whole family. The more people puppies meet, the better. AND; you get to go home with a tired, happy puppy!!!!!!!!!!

If your puppy has gone through his first critical phase in his young life, don't think your done.

Puppies have a 2nd Critical Period ranging from 9 months to one year; with each pup being different in their time frame. If the social skills from earlier in their life aren't kept up, they can regress very quickly. It seems sometimes overnight.

As your puppy gets older, many times they "THINK" they have to much "Power" and can become a bully very quickly. Don't let that happen. If it has you'll learn how to change the unwanted behavior. This social class is focused on helping them learn better dog manners and get through their 2nd fear period, having a great time and meeting new dog friends. Some off leash training will be done as well as interactions with each owner and person in class. You want your puppy to be as social to people as they will be to other dogs.

It's not any fun having a full grown dog that is fear aggressive of people or dog's. Bring your whole family, even older puppies need to meet and greet new people. Gradates of Puppy Social Advanced will receive a discount when they move up into the Basic Level Class.

Over protecting a fearful, shy dog, can be more harmful than helpful. A puppy or dog that is so shy they shake or hide behind you when meeting new people or seeing new things needs a different approach to helping them be more secure and confident.

Is your dog a little or a lot bossy? Does he have control over you and your house? Telling you when it's time to feed him? Where he will sit or lay? Jumping on your company or you?

This is a dog that needs some strong leadership skills from his owner. Dog's don't want to be bossy, although it sure seems they enjoy it at times. But, it's a dog's natural instinct to take over if the human doesn't take charge. A dog that knows he has a strong leader in his human is happier, self confident, knows his limits and what is expected of him. A dog is relieved when their person takes over and follows through letting the dog know who take care of who, who has the "Power".

Being a leader doesn't have to be harsh, cruel or mean. It is simply letting the dog know you are the one to respect and other humans in the house are too. This class will teach you some simple ways to show your dog positive methods that will work without the use of being the "Bad Guy" Watching the transformation in your dog is amazing and exciting to see.
